Sokoto Varsity Lecturer Dies Amid Medical Fund Appeal

The alumni community of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), has announced the death of Professor Abubakar Roko from the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Physical and Computing.
In a statement issued by the UDUS Alumni Association, the group said “We are saddened to announce the demise of Professor Abubakar Roko. He was until his death a lecturer with the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Physical and Computing.”
The statement continued “We want to use this opportunity to thank you all for your financial support and prayers during his time of trials. May Allah SWT reward you abundantly.”
“May Allah bestow His grace on him,” it concluded.
Professor Roko had been ill in recent months. As earlier reported by Kano Times, the academic community at UDUS launched an appeal for financial assistance for his medical treatment abroad.
Doctors had recommended specialized care in Egypt, with the total cost estimated at ₦13 million.
Efforts were underway to facilitate the treatment, and several individuals and organizations had made donations.
