Gov. Yusuf Condemns Ex-SSG Bichi’s Claims, Calls Him Mentally Unstable

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has criticized the dismissed Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, over his recent corruption allegations against the state government.

Baffa Bichi’s allegations include the unsubstantiated claim of a monthly allocation of N2 billion to 2023 New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

In response to the allegations, Governor Yusuf suggested that Bichi may be mentally unstable. He stated, “If Baffa Bichi were in his right mind, he would realize that his accusations are baseless and completely unfounded. These are just wild insinuations that have no merit in the administration’s operations.”

During his first meeting with the 444 ward councillors on Sunday, Governor Yusuf pointed out that despite repeated rejections of Bichi’s appointment by religious leaders and other influential stakeholders, the former SSG was still appointed to the position.

He said, “Despite numerous rejections from Ulamas and other stakeholders, we gave him the esteemed position of SSG. Now, he is trying to tarnish the reputation of our leader, Kwankwaso, with baseless allegations that he cannot substantiate.”

The governor also defended Kwankwaso’s political integrity, highlighting his distinguished career, which includes serving as one of the country’s most respected Defence Ministers, as well as holding the positions of two-term governor and senator.

Yusuf added, “Kwankwaso has served this country honorably. You cannot point to any wrongdoing in his political journey.”

Governor Yusuf further warned Bichi that his continued attacks on political, religious, and traditional leaders would have serious consequences, including the potential removal of his name from the list of genuine indigenes of Kano.

He also warned radio stations that allowed Bichi to make these allegations, stating, “Any medium that continues to give Bichi space to spread these false and damaging accusations will face legal action. We will not tolerate this any longer.”
