Ex-Jama’are LG Boss Killed in Bauchi by Son’s Friends

Isa Muhammad Wabi, a former chairman of Jama’are Local Government Area in Bauchi State, has been killed by friends of his son in a tragic incident that shocked the community.
The attack took place in the early hours of Friday, May 2, 2025, at Fadaman Mada, near Government Girls’ Secondary School in Bauchi.
According to the Bauchi State Police Command, Wabi was stabbed multiple times by two young men who were known associates of his 24-year-old son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed.
Police spokesperson Ahmed Wakil confirmed the incident in a statement. “We received a distress call around 4:03 a.m. reporting an assault by a group of youths in the Fadaman Mada area,” he said.
A police team rushed to the scene and found the 66-year-old former council boss critically injured with deep stab wounds. He was immediately taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the attack was carried out by two individuals identified as Ahmad Abdulkadir, popularly known as Abba, and Faruk Malami, also called Ajebo. The suspects reportedly broke into the house around 3:00 a.m. and attacked Mr. Wabi.
One of the attackers, Ajebo, was found unconscious at the scene—possibly after a struggle. He is currently receiving medical treatment. Wabi’s son, Abdulgafar, is now in police custody and has been assisting with the investigation.
The police have pledged a full investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and bring everyone involved to justice.
