Despite Sacking of Palace Guards, Emir Bayero Attends Qur’anic Graduation in Style

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, attended the Qur’anic graduation of an Islamic school at Kwalli Quarters in Kano Municipal amidst a mammoth crowd.

This marks the third Qur’anic graduation of the school, which was founded by Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan’agundi, a kingmaker and the Sarkin Dawaki Babba of the Kano Emirate.

Bayero, who was accompanied by district heads and well-wishers, urged the 72 graduands to imbibe and practice the teachings of the Qur’an.

He commended the teachers for their tireless efforts in instilling knowledge and good character in the students.

“Education is the most important thing you can give to your children. Islamic education and knowledge of the Qur’an should be given utmost priority by parents at a time when moral decadence in our society is becoming rampant,” he said.

This event comes a day after the sacking of some palace officials on the orders of the state government.

Despite the sackings, a large number of youths were seen in new palace guard uniforms.

Zakari Uba told Daily Digest that he volunteered to serve the Emir out of love and patriotism.

This marks the first official outing by Bayero in Kano city since his dethronement by the Kano State Government.

A source told the paper that the Emir decided to attend the graduation following a court order maintaining the status quo.

“As it stands today, Aminu Bayero is the legitimate Emir of Kano,” said Sarkin Dawaki Babba, Aminu Babba Dan’agundi, in an interview with Arise Television.

“The Emir came out and returned home peacefully—there was no incident of booing or stoning. If it had been the other one, the story might have been different. Did you see a single thug in Bayero’s entourage?” he asked.

One of the sacking letters, widely circulated on social media, revealed that Muhammad Gidado Muhammad, a Senior Clerical Officer of the Kano Emirate, was dismissed without explanation.

The letter, dated March 25, 2025, was signed by Alhaji Abba Yusuf, the Secretary of the Kano Emirate Council under Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Sources disclosed that the letter was backdated, as the official only received it two days ago.
