Eid-el-Kabir: Rep. Kabiru Rurum Felicitates with Muslims, Calls to Embrace Spirit of Sacrifice

As Muslims around the world celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, Nigerian federal lawmaker Kabiru Alhassan Rurum has urged citizens to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, love, and peace during the festive period.
Rurum, who represents the Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Federal Constituency, made this call in a statement released to journalists in Kano. He congratulated Muslim faithful on the occasion and encouraged them to reflect on the deeper meaning of the celebration.
He emphasized that Eid-el-Kabir, as described in Islamic teachings, goes beyond merrymaking—it is a call for patience, compassion, and unwavering faith in God.
“The message of Eid al-Adha reminds us of God’s command to show love to one another and to promote peaceful coexistence,” Rurum said.
“The core of this message is the need to trust in Almighty God at all times. We must remain hopeful and extend kindness and support to one another.”
He urged Nigerians to share joy and goodwill as an expression of the true spirit of Eid.
Rurum further reminded Muslims across Nigeria and beyond to live as ambassadors of Islam by adhering to the teachings and exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
“This celebration stems from the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim and the exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). As Muslims, we are duty-bound to emulate their commitment to peace and submission to God’s will,” he said.
He concluded by wishing Muslim families a joyous and safe Eid celebration and prayed for divine protection during and after the festivities.
