Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reacted to the death of five people in a motor accident that occurred on Sunday near Shantake, about seven kilometers from Danbatta town in Dambatta Local Government Area.

The victims, all from the same extended family, were returning from Bauchi after escorting a newlywed bride to her marital home. Among the deceased were two children of Alhaji Surajo and three children of his younger brother, Alhaji Salisu Dan Raino.

In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor said the incident was “a devastating loss that has cast a shadow of grief over the entire state.”

“This tragedy has deeply touched us all,” he said. “The pain of losing loved ones in such a horrific manner is unimaginable. On behalf of the government and people of Kano State, I extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to the affected families, Dambatta Local Government Chairman and the entire people of the area.”

He also prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and give the families and community strength during this time.

Governor Yusuf said the state government would support the Dambatta community as they deal with the situation.
