Zamfara workers applaud Lawal’s appointment of NLC official as perm sec
There was a celebration in Gusau town, the Zamfara State capital, on Saturday night, following the appointment of an official of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Sani Abubakar Bukkuyum, as a permanent secretary by Governor Dauda Lawal.
Until his appointment as permanent secretary, Comrade Bukkuyum was the Chairman, National Union of Public Service Reportorial Secretarial, Data Processor, and Allied Workers, an affiliate of the NLC in the state.
The celebration, which was organised by members of the National Union of Public Service Reportorial Secretarial, Data Processor, and Allied Workers, was held at the Taula Arena Gusau on Saturday.
It was attended by thousands of NLC members who came from both within and outside the state.
During the occasion, the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress hailed the governor for appointing one of its members, Comrade Bukkuyum, as a permanent secretary.
Speaking at the occasion, the state NLC chairman, Comrade Sani Haliru, while also commending Lawal over the appointment, assured the gathering that the NLC would continue to give all the necessary support and solidarity to his government.
Halliru further called on the governor to have confidence in the newly appointed permanent secretary, stressing that “Sani Bukkuyum is an honest and hardworking personality who has been tested and trusted.”
He stressed, “I assure the governor that Sani Bukkuyum will really deliver in his new assignment as permanent secretary.
“They should have trust in us and the new permanent secretary. He is dedicated, loyal, and honest.”
While also speaking, the Commissioner, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Hon. Abdulmalik Abubakar Gajam represented by the General Manager, Zamfara State Community and Social Development Agency, Umar Nakwada, assured that the staff of the ministry of Budget and Planning would give maximum support to the new permanent secretary in the discharge of his duties.
In his remarks, the Zamfara State Head of Service, Alhaji Yakubu Haidara, explained that Governor lawal was committed to repositioning the civil service for the development of the state.
In their goodwill messages, the National President of NUPSRAW, Northern states forum of the union, Comrade Y.Y Yashi, lauded the governor’s foresight for the appointment of one of them as permanent secretary.
Yashi maintained that the appointee is hardworking and a dedicated unionist with vast experience in the civil service.
The Sarkin Bauran Dange Alhaji Bello Usman and the Emir of Bukkuyum, who was represented by the district head of Bukkuyum Alhaji Sagir Junaidu gave a short biography of the newly appointed permanent secretary Sani Abubakar, saying, “several speakers have described Sani Bukkuyum as a complete gentleman, dedicated and trustworthy who followed the footsteps of his late father.”
Arewa PUNCH reports that Comrade Sani Bukkuyum has been posted to the Ministry of Budget and Planning as a permanent secretary in the state.
