Woman threatens to cut husband off baby’s birth certificate if he fails to cover hospital fees

A Nigerian woman has stated that she will only put her name on her child’s birth certificate if her husband does not pay for her hospital bills during childbirth.

She shared this in a Facebook post that has sparked a lot of discussion online.

In her post, she made her position clear before planning to have a child, saying, “If I carry belle and pay the hospital bill, the birth certificate no fit carry the man’s name. I’ll put only my name there.”

She further expressed, “I can’t even imagine a woman carrying a pregnancy, going through labor, and then paying her hospital bill after childbirth. As how? Wetin be the man’s job? Ewwww. God forbid.”

The woman emphasized the hardships of pregnancy and labor pain as reasons for her decision to leave her husband’s name off the birth certificate if he fails to cover the expenses.

“I go suffer for pregnancy from one to nine months, suffer labor pain or CS, still pay for my own hospital bill. Na ment be that one??”
