Wife, colleagues honour Junior Pope one year after death

Tributes have continued to pour in for Nollywood actor, Junior Pope, one year after his demise en-route a movie set in Asaba, Delta State.
His widow, Jennifer, took to her Instagram page to post a heartfelt tribute in honour of her late husband. She wrote, “It’s been one year of standing in the face of our unimaginable loss, and not a day has gone by without a thought of you. Your love still surrounds us, your laughter echoes in our hearts, and your presence is felt in the quiet moments when we miss you most.
“I still don’t have the right words to respond to Jason and Jaden wanting to know if Daddy will fulfill his promise of taking them to a proper football academy and being present at their first official match.
“Then the littlest one, Jamon (fondly called J Papa by daddy), keeps asking when daddy is bringing the big toy car he promised him.
“We appreciate everyone who sympathised with us and stood—and still stands—by us through our time of grief. Words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude for your love and support. To our beloved, you did not only leave your family but also so many people who loved you and your work.
“Though it’s difficult and still unbelievable to say these words, continue to rest in the bosom of the Almighty. You will always be in our hearts and thoughts, and your memory and legacy will live on forever.”
Some of Pope’s colleagues also shared the fond memories they had with him. Actor, Dave Ogbeni, posted a video collage of them together. In his tribute, he wrote that there were certain songs he can’t listen to, movies he can’t watch, and places he can’t visit anymore because they remind him of the late actor.
Actress, Sonia Ogala, also wrote, “The king of swag. It is already one year since you left this world behind. Your impact and legacy live on, Nwannem. To all our fallen heroes—may your light shine forever. Rest well. @qutejay, may God guide you and the children.”
Destiny Etiko added, “The Swag Nation. The King of Swag. It is already one year since your demise. We are all pained, but you will continue to have a place in our hearts. @qutejay nnem, take heart. God be with you and the beautiful kids. It is well. Jisike.”
Others who took to social media to remember Junior Pope with tributes and words of consolation to his family include Ekene Umenwa, May Edochie, and Adanma Luke.
