What to know about late Diamond Bank’s founder, Pascal Dozie

Pascal Dozie, the founder of the now-defunct Diamond Bank Plc and former chairman of MTN Nigeria, has passed away at the age of 85. His death was confirmed by the Dozie family in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Speaking on behalf of the family, his son, Uzoma Dozie, shared that the prominent business tycoon died in the early hours of Monday, April 8, 2025.
“With deep sorrow, but with gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Pascal Gabriel Dozie, on 8th April 2025,” Uzoma said.
“He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a man of unwavering Catholic faith. His life was marked by service – to God, his family, and his country,” he added.
He is survived by his loving wife, Chinyere, his children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family expressed their gratitude for the gift of his life and the legacy he leaves behind, and they prayed for his soul to rest in perfect peace.
