We’re Committed to Revitalizing Unity Schools – Education Minister Suwaiba Ahmad

The Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Ahmad, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to breathing new life into Unity Schools across the country.
Speaking during a surprise visit to the Federal Government College in Kano on Friday, Prof. Ahmad revealed that the government has earmarked N80 billion for upgrading infrastructure in 100 Unity Schools nationwide.
The minister explained that her visit was aimed at assessing the condition of facilities, student welfare, school leadership, and the overall teaching and learning environment.
She emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between policymakers and school administrators to tackle challenges and deliver quality education.
“Our goal is to ensure that students in Unity Schools learn in a safe, supportive, and well-equipped environment,” she said. “This investment is part of a broader plan to improve infrastructure and boost the capacity of our teachers.”
Prof. Ahmad also disclosed that the ministry is developing a nationwide digital platform to train teachers. “With this platform, teachers can access training and educational resources no matter where they are. It’s about building capacity and raising the standard of teaching in our schools,” she added.
The minister later visited the Federal Government Girls’ College in Kazaure, highlighting that these inspection tours are part of the government’s agenda to revitalize Unity Schools and ensure consistent quality across the board.
She concluded by reiterating the government’s dedication to education reforms that prioritize student learning, teacher development, and improved school infrastructure.
