UDUS Academic Community Seeks Urgent Support for Ailing Prof. Roko

The academic community of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), is seeking financial support for the medical treatment of Professor Abubakar Roko of the Department of Computer Science.

Professor Roko has been seriously ill. His doctors have recommended treatment abroad, and arrangements have been made for him to be taken to a hospital in Egypt. The estimated cost is ₦13 million.

Prof. Isa Garba Abor of the Department of Mathematics issued a message requesting support from friends, former students, and the public.

“We regret to inform you that our beloved friend, Prof. Abubakar Roko… has been ill for some time. After diagnosis, we have resolved to take him to a hospital in Egypt for proper treatment,” the statement read.

The appeal noted that the treatment is scheduled for June 16, 2025, and that his condition is worsening.

“We must act swiftly… Any contribution, no matter how small, in cash or prayers, will be invaluable in ensuring better treatment for him,” Prof. Isa Garba Abor added.
