Two Women Drown in Kano Pond After Work

The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of two women who drowned in a pond in Gezawa Local Government Area.
The Public Relations Officer of the service, Saminu Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement issued in Kano on Wednesday.
“We received a distress call on Tuesday morning at about 11:15 a.m. from a vigilance group in Gezawa that two women had drowned in a pond,” he said.
“The relatives of the victims informed the vigilance group that the women worked at a ‘Zobo’ (Hibiscus) processing company.
“They said the women had gone to the pond to clean up after closing from work and drowned.
“We quickly sent our rescue team to the scene and recovered the corpses from the pond,” he added.
He said the bodies were handed over to Musa Garba, a police constable at the Gezawa Police Division.
Abdullahi advised the public to avoid open water bodies to prevent similar incidents.
