Tinubu’s France Trip: A Symbol of APC’s Failure – Bode George

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s recent trip to France, calling it an example of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s failure to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
In a statement titled “Whither Nigeria, My Beloved Country”, the former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP expressed dismay that Tinubu left the country at a time when Nigerians are grappling with insecurity, hunger, and economic hardship.
“Today, with the series of crises, insecurity, joblessness, and other vices plaguing the nation, President Bola Tinubu has taken off to Paris, France, for reasons best known to him and his handlers,” George stated.
He also condemned the government’s priorities, arguing that while citizens feel unsafe, the APC-led administration and the Senate are focusing on what he described as trivial political matters.
“Nigerians don’t feel safe anymore in their own country, yet the Federal Government, the APC, and the Senate are only interested in recalling suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. What a shame!” he added.
Drawing historical parallels, George warned that the missteps of the APC government could lead to instability similar to what led to the collapse of Nigeria’s First and Second Republics.
He referenced Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s songs as prophetic, highlighting how history continues to repeat itself.
President Tinubu departed for France on Wednesday, with his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, stating that he is expected to return in about a fortnight.
