Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu, Makinde, others mourn Ajimobi’s daughter

The Ajimobi family has been thrown into mourning again following the tragic passing of Bisola Kola-Daisi, the eldest daughter of the late former Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, on Thursday, March 27, 2025.

The devastating news has drawn an outpouring of condolences from prominent figures, including President Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.

President Tinubu, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the loss as “unexpected and heartbreaking”.

According to the statement, Tinubu conveyed his condolences in a heartfelt conversation with the grieving mother of the deceased, Florence Ajimobi, acknowledging the profound pain of losing a beloved daughter, devoted wife, and mother.

The President praised Bisola as “warm-hearted, industrious, and charitable” and lauded her contributions as a public servant and successful businesswoman.

Similarly, Governor Makinde, through his Chief Press Secretary, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, expressed deep sorrow over Bisola’s passing, describing it as “sad and shocking”.

Sanwo-Olu also commiserated with the Ajimobi family. In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu stated that the loss was “tragic and shocking.” He urged the bereaved family to take solace in God.

“She lived a short but fulfilled life, leaving her footprints on every project she handled and making a positive impact in many lives,” he said.

Others who have commiserated with the family include the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, whom she was working for as a Special Assistant; Senator, Teslim Folarin, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon and Vice Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Oba Francis Alao; and the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Oyo State Chapter.

The “Ajumose Marines”, a political group comprising former appointees of Governor Ajimobi, also released a statement through former Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Toye Arulogun, expressing shock at Bisola’s passing.

The 44-year-old Bisola, who was the Chief Executive Officer of Grandex Nigeria Limited and Florence H Luxury in Lagos, reportedly succumbed to a prolonged battle with breast cancer in the United Kingdom.

Bisola is survived by her mother, Florence; her husband, Kolapo Kola-Daisi; three children; and her siblings. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course.

The Ajimobi has been hit by a spate of tragedies in recent years. Senator Ajimobi had died on June 25, 2020, at the age 70, due to complications from COVID-19.

A year later, in September 2021, the former First Lady lost her mother, Mrs Victoria Amudoaghan, at the age of 78.
