Tinubu Appoints Ganduje FAAN Chair, Gawuna to Federal Mortgage Bank

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of board chairpersons for 42 federal organizations alongside key executives for other institutions.

The appointments were announced in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

The statement mentioned the appointment of Dr. Kayode Isiak Opeifa as managing director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation and Raji Kazeem Kolawole as director-general of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI). Major General Jubril Abdulmalik (Rtd) was named Secretary of the Civil Defence, Immigration, and Prisons Services Board.

The President stated that the roles of the newly appointed chairpersons are non-executive and directed them to avoid interfering with the organizations’ daily management. “The board chairpersons must focus on policy guidance and oversight, leaving operational management to the executives,” Onanuga quoted the President.

Notable appointees include Hon. Hillard Eta as Chairman of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi as Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, and former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria. Nasiru Gawuna was appointed Chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.

Other appointments include Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar for the National Inland Waterways Authority, Sen. Magnus Abe for the National Agency for the Great Green Wall, and Chief Edward Omo-Erewa for the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency.
