Three Farmers Killed in Bandit Attack in Katsina

Grief has settled over Azkwai Yalwa Village in Gidan Daudu, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, after three farmers were killed by suspected armed bandits.
The attack happened around 5:30 PM on Tuesday, May 21, while the victims were clearing their farms for the planting season.
Two of the victims were identified as Isah Zangon Daura and Mani Zangon Daura. The third victim, a male, was not identified by press time.
Eyewitnesses told Zagazola Makama that the bandits suddenly opened fire on the farmers before fleeing into nearby bush paths. Security forces from Operation FANSAN YANMA, the Nigeria Police, and the Civilian Joint Task Force (C-Watch) arrived quickly but the attackers had already escaped.
The victims were taken to the General Hospital and confirmed dead on arrival.
After the medical examination, their bodies were handed to the village head for burial, deepening the community’s sorrow.
Residents expressed frustration over the ongoing insecurity and urged for stronger and more consistent military protection to secure farming and rural life.
