Some men look down on us as DJs — Handi

Former Big Brother Naija housemates and twin sisters, Wanni X Handi, have been making waves in their careers as disc jockeys, but in an interview with Saturday Beats, Handi admitted that some men still look down on them in the course of practising their craft.

Handi said, “Definitely, there have been times men tried to look down on us, because they think we cannot play. But, we are very amazing DJs, and when we step on stage, we show them that we know how to play this craft. Also, we are not just DJs; we are entertainers. Regardless of the issues going on in the industry, my sister and I are thriving very well.”

On whether award shows are doing enough to celebrate DJs, Handi said, “I know of some award shows that have categories for DJs. They (award organisers) are doing well but more can still be done.”

The energetic performer also stated that though there are times when their energies might not be at the same level, they always know how to “lift” each other up. We are in sync, so when one person is feeling down, the other person would have to do more. But, there has never been a time that our energies were so low that we could not perform. We know how to lift each other up.”

Meanwhile, in an earlier interview, her twin sister, Wanni, had stated that having been together for 28 years, they had built an incredible bond. She said, “She (Handi) is my soul mate and best friend. We are sync in with each other. We dance and DJ together. We have choreographies that we have done over and over again.”

Handi also urged their fans to stay glued to their social media pages, as they had a lot in the pipeline.
