Soldiers eliminate 16 terrorists in Borno – Army

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised 16 ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists during a confrontation in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Nigerian Army announced the development in a post on its official X handle on Friday.

According to the statement, the terrorists were spotted around 1 a.m. and were immediately engaged with sustained indirect fire.

“The main thrust of the attack targeted the Brigade, prompting the swift deployment of air support to reinforce ground troops,” the Army said.

The military noted that the combined firepower from air and ground forces overwhelmed the insurgents after about two hours of fierce combat, ultimately forcing them to flee.

“16 terrorists were neutralised during the encounter. A pursuit operation is currently ongoing to track down fleeing elements,” the Army added.

The Army also confirmed that an ammunition storage facility was hit during the clash but was quickly secured, preventing further escalation.

Reaffirming its resolve, the Nigerian Army stated its continued dedication to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups in the North East and restoring enduring peace to the region.
