Six Nigerians Make Forbes 2025 Black Billionaires List

Six Nigerians have been listed among the World’s Black Billionaires for 2025 by Forbes Magazine, with Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola leading the pack.
The annual ranking shows that out of 3,028 billionaires globally, only 23 are Black, making up just 0.8% of the total.
Forbes reported that these 23 Black billionaires have collectively amassed $96.2 billion, with the majority of their wealth coming from finance, energy, and technology sectors. Of the 23, six are Nigerians, making Nigeria the country with the highest representation on the list.
Aliko Dangote, chairman of the Dangote Group, is the highest-ranked Nigerian and the wealthiest Black billionaire in the world, with a net worth of $23.9 billion. His wealth surged following the commencement of operations at the Dangote refinery in early 2024, which added $10.5 billion to his fortune since last year.
Mike Adenuga, the owner of telecommunications firm Globacom, ranks second among Nigerians and fifth globally, with a net worth of $6.8 billion.
Abdulsamad Rabiu, founder of BUA Group, is the third Nigerian and sixth overall, with a net worth of $5.1 billion.
Adebayo Ogunlesi, CEO of Global Infrastructure Partners, is listed as the 11th richest Black billionaire, with a net worth of $2.2 billion. Forbes highlighted the sale of his firm to BlackRock in October 2024 for $12.5 billion in cash and shares.
Femi Otedola, chairman of Geregu Power, ranks 12th with a net worth of $1.5 billion. He first built his wealth in the commodities sector before shifting focus to the energy industry, where he now holds a majority stake in Geregu Power alongside investors such as the Nigerian government and China’s State Grid Corporation.
Tope Awotona, founder of the scheduling software company Calendly, rounds off the list of Nigerian billionaires.
Awotona, ranked 14th, has a net worth of $1.4 billion. His company was valued at $3 billion by private investors in 2021.
