Shehu Sani Rejects Appointment as Miss World Nigeria Judge

Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani (Kaduna Central), has declined his appointment as a judge for the upcoming Miss World Nigeria Beauty Pageant, scheduled to take place at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos on April 4.

The news of his appointment was announced by the event organizer, Senator Ben Bruce, who is a close friend and former colleague of Sani in the eighth Senate.

On his official social media account, Bruce congratulated Sani, stating: “Hearty congratulations to my good friend, Shehu Sani, on his appointment as a judge for the Miss World Nigeria Beauty Pageant, taking place on April 4, at the Federal Palace Hotel. Kindly ensure you arrive on time, 6:00 PM sharp, and come dressed in your finest attire.”

However, in a post on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Sani respectfully declined the offer. He expressed gratitude to Bruce for the honor but explained his reasons for rejecting the role.

Sani stated, “My wives will not be happy if I serve as a judge. I have not been able to pass judgment on the most beautiful between my wives, let alone those I don’t know. I don’t have the knowledge or experience in such events. This is Sallah period, where we spend time with family and friends. Thank you for the honor and wish them well.”

Sani also apologized for any inconvenience his decision might have caused to Bruce and the event organizers.
