Rivers Gas Explosion Claims Three, Including Father, Daughter

The gas explosion that happened in Orazi in Obio-Akpor council of Rivers State on Saturday has claimed the lives of three victims, including a father and his young daughter, leaving their community in mourning.

The tragic incident sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood, with friends and family struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of their loved ones.

It was learned that one of the victims identified as Ayo, a popular phone repairer, and his daughter succumbed to severe burns from the explosion while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The news of their passing has left neighbours and friends shattered, with many describing the pair as “lovely” and “kind-hearted.”

Michael Tordue, a resident of the area, while recounting the harrowing aftermath of the explosion said: “It’s been a difficult time for our community. The explosion was so powerful that it affected many people. We’re still trying to process what happened.”

Tordue also revealed that a 16-year-old neighbour who was also injured in the explosion has already been laid to rest at a nearby cemetery.

The teenager’s death has added to the sense of tragedy and loss in the community.

The gas explosion, which occurred on Saturday, January 6, has cast a somber cloud over the community, leaving many grappling with the sudden loss of beloved individuals.

As the community mourns the loss of Ayo, his daughter, and the 16-year-old neighbor, prayers are being offered for the speedy recovery of those still receiving treatment in the hospital.
