Pastor Shoots Two Immigration Officers in Abuja

Two officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service were shot on Friday night in the Sabon Iddo area of Abuja by a man identified as Pastor Darlington, who reportedly mistook them for armed robbers.

According to counter-insurgency analyst Zagazola Makama, police sources said the incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. while the officers, Oyomide Zion and Hakeem Mashood, were on routine patrol.

The suspect, Pastor Darlington, fled the scene and is currently at large.

A senior police officer stated, “At about 11:40 p.m., the Divisional Police Officer of Iddo Division received a distress call and deployed patrol teams to the area. Upon arrival, another immigration officer, Uduk James, informed the police that his colleagues had been shot.”

The injured officers were taken to the Nigerian Air Force Base Hospital in Abuja.

Security sources say efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the suspect. “We are doing everything possible to track down Pastor Darlington. We urge anyone with useful information to assist the police,” one officer said.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear, but initial reports indicate the suspect may have mistaken the officers for criminals.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Immigration Service has not issued an official statement.
