One Year After Reinstatement: Emir Sanusi II Brings Stability to Kano – Gwarzo
Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has praised His Highness, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, for his impactful leadership and contributions to peace and stability in Kano, one year after his return to the throne.
Speaking during a special prayer session at the Emir’s Palace to mark the anniversary, Gwarzo emphasized the importance of traditional institutions in promoting harmony and unity across the state.
“Our traditional institutions are pillars of wisdom, peace, and stability,” he said. “Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration deeply values their role and remains committed to working hand in hand with them to advance the collective well-being of our people.”
The event, attended by Islamic scholars, community members, and well-wishers, featured prayers for peace and continued progress in the state.
Gwarzo also lauded Emir Sanusi II’s leadership style, describing him as a symbol of justice and a champion of the people’s welfare.
In a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, the Deputy Governor reaffirmed the administration’s support for traditional leadership and its ongoing efforts to foster a stable and prosperous Kano.
It will be recalled that four years after Muhammadu Sanusi II was deposed as the Emir of Kano by former state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf reinstated him to the throne.
Governor Yusuf reinstated him shortly after signing the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Bill 2024 into law.
The new law replaces the Kano State Emirates Council Law of 2019 and dissolves the emirate councils created by Governor Yusuf’s predecessor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
That law was used by Ganduje to split the Kano Emirate into five in December 2019 and to depose the 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, on March 9, 2020. The emirates created by the Ganduje administration were Karaye, Bichi, Rano, and Gaya, in addition to Kano.
