A Nigerian man has gone viral after sharing a harrowing experience of an alleged early-morning raid by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on his apartment complex.

In a video posted by @ChuksEricE on X (formerly Twitter), the man detailed how EFCC officers stormed the compound around 3 a.m., sending residents into a frenzy.

He said he was asleep when he was jolted awake by loud footsteps and chaos outside. Looking out, he saw people scrambling to escape, some even jumping fences in fear.

“Today, I just had one of the most traumatizing moments of my life. My hands are still shaking,” he said. “As a youth in this country, I’m not okay. Try your best not to get involved in anything illegal,” he said.

The man, who revealed he had only moved into the apartment three weeks prior, said he narrowly avoided arrest. According to him, EFCC operatives asked questions before acting, which likely spared him.

“If I wasn’t making a living legally, I would probably be in EFCC custody right now,” he added. He described seeing armed officers outside his window and instantly realizing the seriousness of the situation.

He concluded his account by emphasizing the importance of staying on the right side of the law, saying his innocence was likely what protected him during the raid.
