NDLEA Drags Kano Drug Baron Danwawu to Court

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has arraigned Suleiman Aminu, popularly known as Danwawu, before the Federal High Court sitting in Kano.

The arraignment took place before Hon. Justice M.S. Shu’aibu.

Danwawu, who has been wanted by security agencies for his involvement in large-scale illicit drug operations, was arrested in a sting operation carried out by the Nigeria Police Force, Kano Command, at his residence. He was later transferred to the NDLEA.

According to the statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the NDLEA, Kano State Command, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the agency conducted a follow-up operation after Danwawu’s arrest, leading to the seizure of additional illicit substances.

“Suleiman Aminu, widely known as Danwawu, was apprehended during a coordinated operation… Upon his transfer, a follow-up operation was conducted, resulting in the recovery of additional illicit substances,” the statement read.

Maigatari said the suspect has been “a figure synonymous with illicit drug trafficking” whose operations have affected Kano and its neighboring states.

“This arraignment is in line with the relentless approach advocated by the agency’s Chairman… who has vowed to take a hard stance against drug dealers and traffickers,” Maigatari stated.
