Man Arrested for Fatal Attack on Wife in Kano

Kano State Police Command has made progress in the investigation of a culpable homicide case in Tsamiyar Duhuwa, Kumbotso Local Government.

The incident occurred on April 6, 2025, when 22-year-old Rumaisa Haruna was found dead with neck injuries at her home in Farawa Quarters, Kano.

According to a statement signed by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Police Public Relations Officer, the prime suspect, Shu’aibu Abdulkadir, 35, from Madatai Quarters, Kano, was arrested on May 23, 2025, following investigations and technical operations.

The suspect confessed to unlawfully entering the victim’s home, strangling her, and stabbing her in the neck with a knife, causing her death. The victim’s husband, Ibrahim Mohammed, found her injured and took her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said, “The Command commends the detectives for their tireless efforts and professionalism that led to the arrest of the suspect.” He added that the suspect is in custody and cooperating to ensure that justice is served.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, said, “The Command assures the public of its commitment to safeguarding all residents and maintaining peace and order in the state.”
