KNUPDA Orders Registration of All Billboards, Signboards in Kano

The Kano State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA) has directed all owners and operators of billboards and signboards in the state to present themselves for registration and verification of their structures.

The Authority made the call in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Bahijja Malam Kabara, stressing the need for compliance in the interest of urban safety and orderliness.

According to the statement, the exercise is part of KNUPDA’s efforts to promote a safe, orderly, and well-planned urban environment in Kano.

“All individuals, corporate organizations, advertising agencies, and business owners who have installed billboards or signboards within Kano metropolis and its environs are advised to register their names and provide details of the exact locations of these structures,” Kabara said.

She explained that the registration would enable KNUPDA to assess whether such installations are properly located and ensure they are not obstructing walkways, roadways, or violating urban planning regulations.

“Concerned parties are requested to visit the KNUPDA Headquarters at No. 2 Durbin Katsina Road, Kano, to complete the registration and verification process,” she added.

The Authority warned that failure to comply with the directive could lead to enforcement actions, including the removal of billboards and signboards that are found to be improperly sited.

Kabara urged the public to support the exercise, saying, “KNUPDA appreciates the cooperation of the public as we work together to create a cleaner, safer, and more organized urban environment in Kano State.”
