Kate Henshaw Slams Electricity Tariff Band System, Calls It a ‘Huge Fraud’

- Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has expressed her dissatisfaction with Nigeria’s electricity tariff band system.
- The movie star has criticized the current tariff band category as a significant fraud, highlighting the disparity between high electricity tariffs and actual consumer supply.
Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has voiced her displeasure over Nigeria’s electricity band tariff system, describing it as deceptive and exploitative.
Taking to 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, the veteran actress criticized the classification model, claiming it does not reflect the actual electricity supply consumers receive. According to her, despite being on the high-paying Band A—which is meant to ensure over 20 hours of electricity daily—she barely receives two hours of power.
“This banding of electricity is a huge FRAUD! I said it before, and I repeat it again,” she wrote.
Henshaw further likened the billing approach to a Ponzi scheme, referencing the now-defunct CBEX scheme. She wrote, “When they know they can’t generate enough energy to supply the people, you raise tarriff and still drop the supply! Is that not CBex-ing of the people??”
Expressing frustration with the estimated billing method, she added: “That estimated billing na daylight robbery with bazooka guns!!! I said what I said!!!”
The actress’s comments reflect the growing dissatisfaction among Nigerians facing high utility bills with little to no improvement in power supply.
In other news, Nollywood actress Nuella Njubigbo is currently grieving the heartbreaking loss of her father, as she shared the sad news via her Instagram page.
The film star made the emotional announcement with a simple yet powerful post featuring a mourning emoji and a heartfelt message that read, “Rest in perfect peace daddy.”
Although she did not disclose the details surrounding his passing, her post stirred an outpouring of love and sympathy from fans, friends, and fellow actors in the entertainment industry.
