Kano Wanted Serial Killer “Abba Dujal” Surrenders to Police

A suspected serial killer and armed robbery suspect, Umar Auwal—popularly known as Abba Dujal—has surrendered to the Kano State Police Command after years of evading arrest.
The suspect, from Wudil Local Government Area, reportedly walked into the Command’s Anti-Daba (Anti-Thuggery) Squad office around 5:00 p.m. on April 14, 2025, and confessed to multiple crimes, including killings, armed robbery, and the theft of motorcycles and mobile phones across Kano and nearby areas.
According to intelligence sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the 32-year-old surrendered following increased police operations across the state. Two days earlier, on April 12, 2025, police carried out a raid during which 61 suspects were arrested at various locations in Kano metropolis and surrounding areas. Weapons and other items were recovered during the operation.
A police source involved in the investigation said, “The suspect is currently in custody and helping with ongoing investigations to uncover the full scope of his criminal network and identify all accomplices involved. His surrender was not random—it came after sustained pressure from our intelligence-led crackdown on criminal gangs.”
Another official, who requested anonymity, stated that Abba Dujal’s name had been on the police’s most-wanted list due to his alleged involvement in several violent crimes.
“This is a breakthrough for the Command. Abba Dujal has been a ghost figure in many of our investigations. His decision to surrender shows the growing impact of our operations,” the official added.
The Kano State Police Command issued a statement saying, “The Command remains committed to rooting out criminal elements from all corners of the state and will continue to intensify its intelligence-led operations to safeguard lives and property,” a police spokesperson said.
