Kano varsity matriculates 578 students, highlights vision, achievement

The Khalifa Isyaku Rabi’u University, Kano has matriculated a total of 578 newly admitted students for the 2025 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, who stated this during the matriculation ceremony on Friday, expressed the commitment of the university to ensuring academic excellence by international best practices and standards.
Garba, who offered special prayers to the KHAIRUN’s founder, late Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu, said his vision remains the cornerstone of the university’s development.
He highlighted that KHAIRUN’s commitment to being a value-driven institution built on entrepreneurship, Islamic morals, and Qur’anic education—values deeply rooted in the ideals of its founder.
He reminded the students that the matriculation oath marks their formal entry into the global academic community and urged them to uphold the university’s values in academics, conduct, and interpersonal relations.
He also outlined key achievements recorded so far, including the hosting of over 20 academic seminars and lectures, the launch of two international academic journals and two professional journals, as well as active collaborations with local and international institutions, research bodies, and NGOs.
In terms of infrastructure, the Vice Chancellor noted the transformation of the university’s library with expanded holdings, digital access, and extended opening hours.
“The university also boasts a fully functional website, smart classrooms, and round-the-clock security across its campus,” he said.
Other milestones recorded include the institutionalization of Qur’anic recitation and memorization for 100- and 200-level students, full compliance with the NUC Academic Brief (2022), the launch of the 2025–2027 Strategic Plan, and the establishment of a Quality Assurance Office.
The Acting Director, Corporate Affairs and Marketing Directorate, Bilal Tijjani, announced that preparations are ongoing for the commencement of Law and Medicine programmes.
The Registrar of the university, Yusuf Datti, administered the matriculation oath, officially inducting the new students into the academic community of the university.
