Kano Police Officers’ Wives Donate Food, Clothes, Rams to Orphans

The Kano State Chapter of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), led by its Chairperson, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar Bakori, visited the Nassarawa Children’s Home, where they donated food items, clothing, rams, and other supplies to orphans and vulnerable children.

The visit took place on Sunday, June 9, 2025.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the donations were part of POWA’s effort to assist children in need.

Hajiya Hadiza was seen interacting with the children and staff, handing over the donations and speaking with them.

Mallam Muhammad Sambo Iliiyasu, who represented the Honourable Commissioner of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Children, and Disabled, received the items on behalf of the ministry.

“We are grateful to POWA for their selfless contributions and unwavering support for the community,” Mallam Iliiyasu said. “Such initiatives not only improve the lives of the children but also foster a sense of unity and responsibility among members of the Police Force and their families.”

He also mentioned the Kano Police Command’s role in providing security at the children’s home.

The Police Command encouraged other groups and individuals to carry out similar efforts.

“The Kano State Police Command commends POWA’s kind gesture and encourages other organizations and individuals within the State to engage in similar philanthropic activities to further support and empower the less privileged,” the statement added.
