Kano Governor Announces Plan for New Assembly Complex

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, has requested that members of the State House of Assembly relocate to a temporary site to allow for the demolition of the current Assembly Complex in preparation for the construction of a new complex to accommodate legislative functions.

In a letter to the Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Ismail Falgore, the governor informed the Assembly of the planned demolition.

During plenary, the Speaker read the governor’s letter to the Assembly, highlighting the plan to build a new chamber designed to serve the legislature for years. He urged members to move to a temporary site to continue their legislative work until the new building is completed.

In response, the Majority Leader, Hon. Lawan Husseini, advised the governor to ensure that the process for awarding the reconstruction contract is transparent and follows due process.

He also recommended that the contract be awarded to a qualified contractor who can meet the project’s standards and deliver within the agreed timeframe.
