JUST IN: Kwankwaso Breaks Silence, Denies Political Rumors

Former Kano State Governor and leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has denied a viral news story alleging that he criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) and rejected offers from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to return to the party.

The story, which appeared on social media and some online platforms, claimed that Tinubu asked Kwankwaso to rejoin the APC, but he declined, reportedly saying, “I would rather quit politics entirely than go back to the APC.”

It also alleged that Kwankwaso vowed to build a political movement to end the APC’s rule in 2027.

However, in a swift reaction, in a statement posted on his verified Facebook page, Senator Kwankwaso disassociated himself from the statements, describing them as false and the handiwork of political mischief-makers.

“My attention has been drawn to a statement purportedly stating my position on the recurring political realignments in Nigeria. I wish to categorically state that such statements are false, unfounded, and the products of political mischief,” he said.

He noted that he has consciously avoided public commentary on ongoing political developments and has no intention of changing that position for now.

“I have refrained from commenting on contemporary political events, and I will continue to do so for the time being,” he added.

He therefore urged members of the public and the media to verify political statements attributed to him through his verified social media handles and official communication channels.

“In this regard, I urge the public to only engage with statements that come from my public handles and other official sources,” he concluded.
