“Iyabo Ojo Is A Political Machine”- Socialite Urges Seyi Tinubu To Consider Actress For Lagos Deputy Governor

  • On April 30, 2025, Dokun Olumofin made a statement about Iyabo Ojo’s potential in the 2027 Lagos governorship election.
  • Olumofin’s comments were directed at key political figures, including Seyi Tinubu and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV).

On April 30, 2025, Nigerian socialite Dokun Olumofin turned heads with a bold statement regarding Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo’s potential as a political force in Lagos state’s upcoming 2027 governorship election.

Taking to Instagram, Olumofin directed his comments to prominent political figures, including Seyi Tinubu, the son of Nigeria’s president, and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), who previously ran for Lagos governorship. He also addressed other political stakeholders eyeing the 2027 race.

Olumofin expressed his belief that Iyabo Ojo’s daughter’s wedding, JP2025, was not only an extravagant celebration of culture, music, and style but also a key moment in the emergence of a new political movement. According to the socialite, the event marked the beginning of a political shift, one that could see Iyabo Ojo rise as a game-changer in Lagos politics.

In his post, Olumofin emphasized that no past female deputy governorship candidate or other politicians in Lagos had the same level of street credibility, charm, and ability to rally support as Iyabo Ojo. He described her as a natural leader capable of captivating voters across various demographics, from elite circles to the grassroots.

With her vast influence in the entertainment industry and her ability to mobilize large crowds, Olumofin noted that Iyabo Ojo would be an unstoppable force if she were to align with the right political backing. He predicted that, with the proper structure, the actress could dramatically alter the political landscape of Lagos come 2027.

He wrote in part:

“Some will question Iyabo Ojo’s “political experience.” But what is politics, if not the ability to mobilize, to lead, and to connect? She has raised a fine daughter, built a brand from scratch, touched lives across divides, and earned respect from women between 18-50. From the market stalls of Mushin to the salons of Lekki, from Gen Z influencers to mothers across tribes, she speaks the political language. She is a bridge between classes, a symbol of modern Yoruba strength, a storm hiding in plain sight.”

Olumofin went on to emphasize that at its core, politics revolves around the power to mobilize votes and create a movement. He believes that Iyabo Ojo embodies this very essence, seeing her as a powerful political force in the making. As he put it:

“Politics in this new era isn’t about Ivy League gloss, “Ikoyi Classism” or old boys’ elitism. It’s about votes. Authenticity. Mobilization. Movement. Who can spark a chant in Agege and trend in Victoria Island? Who can stand beside the Governor and be the people’s heartbeat? lyabo Ojo can. Her Yorubanism is authentic. Her Grassrootism is unshakable.

To every political player mapping 2027: power is no longer where it used to be, it is rising where many aren’t looking. Don’t fear this wave. Ride it. In lyabo Ojo, I do not see mere popularity, I see a political machine. A firebrand. A detonator waiting to be activated.”
