Hadejia Emirate Distributes Over N1 Billion Zakat to Needy Families

The Hadejia Emirate Zakat Committee in Jigawa State has collected and distributed zakat valued at more than N1.072 billion to residents in need.
According to a report presented to the Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar, the funds and materials were distributed to 185,000 individuals and families across the emirate during the 2024–2025 zakat season (1446 AH).
Speaking to journalists, the secretary of the committee, Ismaila Barde, explained that the zakat was sourced from 27 districts under the emirate and consisted of cash, agricultural produce, and livestock.
He disclosed that in 2024 alone, the committee collected over N300 million in zakat contributions. Guri, Auyo, and Jabo districts were the highest contributors, generating N105.7 million, N104.07 million, and N100.02 million respectively.
In response to the report, the Emir of Hadejia encouraged eligible individuals, including wealthy residents and farmers, to continue fulfilling their zakat obligations to support vulnerable members of the community.
