Gynaecologists Express Concern Over 18-Year-Old Boy Who Impregnated 10 Girls in 5 Months

  • An 18-year-old boy in Anambra State is accused of allegedly impregnating 10 girls in just five months, raising serious concerns among gynaecologists.
  • Reproductive health experts have deemed the situation “unusual,” indicating deeper issues influencing the teenager’s behavior despite its biological possibility.

Reproductive health professionals have raised alarms over a concerning case in Anambra State, where an 18-year-old boy is said to have impregnated 10 girls within a span of just five months. While the situation is biologically possible, experts have expressed serious concern, suggesting there may be deeper issues at play behind the teenager’s behavior.

The teenager, an apprentice in the state, is currently under investigation by the Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare. Reports indicate that he has reportedly impregnated several girls, including his master’s daughter and a salesgirl.

The case has sparked widespread discussions about adolescent sexual behavior. Some experts have hinted that there may be more to this incident than what appears on the surface.

Professor Chris Aimakhu, an Obstetrics and Gynaecology professor at the University of Ibadan, commented on the matter, noting that while it is biologically possible for the teenager to impregnate multiple girls, the situation is troubling. He pointed out that for 10 girls to accept such a relationship with a boy who offers little in return, something deeper may be influencing their actions.

Professor Aimakhu further raised concerns about the possibility that the teenager could be exploited by baby factory networks operating in the region. “If this boy is being used because of his age and potency, a thorough investigation is necessary,” he explained. The professor also called for DNA tests to confirm paternity and eliminate the chance that the boy is being exploited as part of a coordinated scheme.

Dr. Joseph Akinde, a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, also discussed the case, speculating that the teenager may be suffering from hypersexuality, a mental health disorder characterized by an unusually high sex drive. Although rare, hypersexuality can significantly impact an individual’s behavior and requires medical intervention.

One of the most alarming aspects of the case is the alleged pregnancy of a 10-year-old girl, who is said to be the apprentice’s master’s daughter. Dr. Akinde highlighted that while early puberty is becoming more common, young girls—especially those under 10—are not mentally or emotionally ready for sexual activity. He stressed the importance of early sexual education to help children and parents understand the risks and consequences of premature sexual behavior.

Dr. Akinde also urged parents to provide sexual education to their children to ensure they understand the dangers and emotional implications of engaging in sexual activity at a young age.
