Gov. Yusuf Launches LG Development Competition for Rural Growth

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has launched a competitive development initiative aimed at accelerating grassroots projects across the state.

The governor made the announcement during the Hawan Nasarawa celebrations at the Government House, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to rural transformation.

“We have introduced a competition where every Local Government Chairman must present and execute development projects within a stipulated timeframe. Once a chairman submits a viable project, funds will be released immediately. Those who deliver on time will be allowed to take on multiple projects,” Governor Yusuf stated.

A statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Tuesday confirmed the initiative, which seeks to drive infrastructural development through a performance-based approach.

The governor also issued a stern warning to underperforming local government chairmen, stressing that his administration will not tolerate delays in project execution.

“Local government leaders must take an active role in driving development. Any chairman who fails to meet expectations will have to face the consequences,” he added.
