Golden Jubilee: BUK Education Faculty Hosts National Conference

The Faculty of Education at Bayero University, Kano (BUK) is preparing to mark its 50th anniversary with a major national conference and the launch of its Alumni Association.
The celebration, titled “50 Years of Educational Excellence: Reflection, Celebration and Aspiration of the Faculty of Education, Bayero University, Kano,” will take place on Monday, 14th April, 2025, at the Convocation Arena, New Campus, BUK.
This special event will bring together education experts, policymakers, former students, and other key stakeholders from across Nigeria. It will be an opportunity to reflect on the faculty’s journey, celebrate its achievements, and discuss the future of education in the country.
The Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad, will attend as the Special Guest, while the Anniversary Lecture will be delivered by Dr. Sani Ahmad Sufi, a respected educationist and former Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education.
The academic conference, with the theme “Transformative Education for the Future: Confronting Emerging Issues and Unlocking Opportunities,” will feature Professor Muhammad Umar Sanda, Dean of Postgraduate Studies at the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, as the Keynote Speaker.
Other highlights include a lead paper presentation by Professor Bala Zakari, former Deputy Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), and the official launch of the Faculty’s Alumni Association.
The event will be chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, while the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Dr. Abubakar Ibrahim Hassan, will serve as the host.
The program will start at 10:00 a.m. and is expected to be a memorable moment in the history of the Faculty, which continues to play an important role in the development of education in Nigeria.
