Glitches: 379,997 candidates to retake 2025 UTME – JAMB registrar

Following widespread technical glitches and irregularities, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that 379,997 candidates will be required to retake the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The Board’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made the announcement during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.

He announced that a total of 379,997 candidates who were affected by the technical hitches and scoring anomalies would retake the examination.

The decision comes in the wake of widespread outcry from candidates and parents over unusually low scores, persistent technical glitches at examination centres, and reports of systemic irregularities.

Prof. Oloyede revealed that the retake will involve candidates from 65 centres in Lagos and 92 centres in the Owerri Zone, which includes all five states in the South East.

The announcement is part of JAMB’s effort to restore credibility to the UTME process and ensure fairness for all candidates. Further details regarding the rescheduled examinations are expected to be released soon.
