Get Weapons Like Your Killers — Danjuma Tells Taraba People

Retired General and former Defence Minister, Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, has once again urged the people of Taraba State to take their safety into their own hands and defend themselves against violent attackers.
Speaking on Friday night in Takum, his hometown and the headquarters of Takum Local Government Area, Danjuma addressed his staff during an appreciation event and didn’t hold back on his concerns over the worsening security situation in the country.
Danjuma, a prominent voice from Nigeria’s military past, said the wave of killings across parts of Benue, Plateau, and other states—allegedly carried out by armed herders—has only intensified since he first called on communities to defend themselves years ago.
“I told you before to rise and defend yourselves, and I’m saying it again—this time with even more urgency,” he declared. “Those attacking you are heavily armed. Nobody knows how they got such weapons, but you too should find a way to arm yourselves. Wherever they got theirs from, get yours too.”
The retired army general warned that the attackers are not just out to kill but to take over the land. “They are armed and ready to destroy your lives and homes,” he said. “But remember, they are human too. You have the right to stand your ground.”
