Fubara Begs Wike, Holds His Legs in Abuja, Calls Him ‘My Oga’

In a new development in the political crisis in Rivers State, suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara reportedly visited Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at his residence in Abuja, where he apologized and asked for reconciliation.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, Fubara was taken to Wike’s house by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and former Governor Olusegun Osoba on Friday, April 18. A source said Fubara knelt down, held Wike’s legs, and called him “My Oga.”

“He prostrated before Wike, held his legs and begged him, saying, ‘My Oga, please forgive me,’” a source said. Fubara stayed at the house until the early hours of the next day.

This meeting followed a reported trip by Fubara to London to meet President Bola Tinubu over the political dispute with Wike. Tinubu later declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and suspended Fubara and several elected officials for six months.

Sources said Fubara was told to return to Rivers and explain the situation to his supporters and elders.

Wike’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, confirmed the meeting but gave no details. Fubara’s media aide, Nelson Chukwudi, refused to comment and directed inquiries to the Commissioner for Information. Attempts to reach Commissioner Joseph Johnson were unsuccessful.
