Ex-Buhari Aide Bashir Ahmad Slams Gov Yusuf Over Lack of Inclusive Government

A former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has criticized Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State for excluding Gaya Local Government—his hometown—from the state executive council.
In a tweet on Friday, Ahmad said the governor had completely sidelined the area in his appointments, pointing out that Gaya has neither a commissioner nor any official representation in the administration.
“This is a matter of deep concern regarding the composition of your current state executive council,” Ahmad said. “Dala Local Government has four commissioners and several special advisers, Kano Municipal (KMC) Local Government has three, and several other local governments have two each. Surprisingly and regrettably, Gaya—our local government and your birthplace—has no commissioner, meaning it has absolutely no representation in your executive council.”
He also raised concerns over what he described as the governor’s failure to initiate or complete any project in Gaya since assuming office.
“In the past two years of your administration, Gaya has not benefited from a single completed or ongoing government project—not one. This absence of inclusivity is deeply discouraging for the people of Gaya, who voted and stood firmly with you,” he added.
Ahmad concluded his post by urging the governor to address what he described as an unjust situation.
“Your Excellency, we respectfully and strongly urge you to address this imbalance and correct this political unfairness. With respect and regards,” he wrote.
