EFCC quizzes Iyabo Ojo for spraying money at daughter’s wedding

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo says she was recently questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over money spraying at her daughter’s wedding.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Ojo—popularly known as the Queen Mother—said the EFCC contacted her while she was in the UK, and she honoured their invitation on her return to Nigeria by visiting their office on May 5, 2025.
“I recently received an invitation from the EFCC while I was in the UK. On my return, I went to their office on May 5, where I was questioned about my personal details, career, and more,” she wrote.
The interrogation focused on the wedding of her daughter, Priscilla, to Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, held last month.
The EFCC reportedly presented video clips showing guests spraying both naira and foreign currencies.
Ojo admitted knowing that defacing the naira is an offense but said she was unaware that spraying foreign currencies was also illegal.
“I was shown videos from the wedding where guests were spraying money. I explained that I thought only the abuse or mutilation of the naira was prohibited,” she said.
She added that EFCC officials clarified that spraying any currency at events violates financial regulations.
Ojo concluded by urging Nigerians to refrain from such practices to stay within the law.
