EFCC grants VeryDarkMan administrative bail

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that it has granted administrative bail to popular social media activist Martins Innocent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
VeryDarkMan was arrested last weekend at a GTBank branch in Abuja, where he had gone to challenge the bank over a loan allegedly debited from his mother’s account without her consent.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the EFCC explained that the arrest was based on “grave allegations of financial malfeasance.”
The Commission stated that it received multiple petitions against Otse and subsequently secured a court order permitting his detention beyond the 24-hour period mandated by the Constitution.
Although he remains in custody as of the time of the statement, the EFCC said that Otse has been granted administrative bail and is working to meet the conditions for his release.
“He has been offered an administrative bail and would be released after fulfilling all the bail conditions,” the Commission said.
