EFCC Arrests Two Women for Hawking Naira Notes

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested two women, Adeoti Folake and Adewuyi Modupe, for allegedly hawking Naira notes in Lagos.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the suspects were apprehended on Friday, March 21, 2025, by operatives of the Lagos Directorate 1 of the commission. They were arrested for their alleged involvement in the abuse of the Naira.

The EFCC disclosed that a total of N3,850,000 (Three Million, Eight Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) and N1,600,000 (One Million, Six Hundred Thousand Naira) were recovered from Folake and Modupe, respectively.

The commission stated that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
