Education for All: Gov. Yusuf Flags Off Free JAMB Forms for 10,000 Students

The Kano State Government has begun distributing 10,000 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to secondary school students across the state.

The event, which marked the commencement of the distribution, also featured the launch of training sessions on computer-based testing for all recipients.

Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf was represented by the Commissioner for Education, Ali Haruna Makoda, during the flag-off ceremony.

The Governor’s Special Adviser on Education, Alhaji Tajuddin Gambo, said arrangements are being made to provide transportation for the students during the training.

He encouraged the students to take the opportunity seriously and to strive for success in the examination. “The government is willing to select the best schools for the beneficiaries if they pass the examinations,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Fatima Mukhtar Umar, thanked the Governor for the free form and pledged to do her best. “I promise not to disappoint,” she said.

In a statement, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Information, Ibrahim Adam, said the event also served to highlight some of the administration’s achievements in the education sector over the past 22 months. These include the reintroduction of scholarships, the reopening of skills acquisition centers, the renovation of schools, the construction of new classrooms, and the supply of classroom furniture, writing materials, and uniforms.

Adam also mentioned a 50% reduction in registration fees for state-owned tertiary institutions, support for girls’ education through cash transfers, and the payment of exam fees for NECO, NABTEB, and NBAIS candidates.

He quoted the Governor as encouraging students to take their studies seriously, saying, “The future belongs to those who work tirelessly to turn dreams into realities.”
