Drama as Senator Natasha mocks Akpabio with ‘erection’ apology

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the suspended senator representing Kogi Central at the national assembly has reignited political tensions by issuing a biting, satirical apology to Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
In a letter laced with scathing sarcasm, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan mockingly apologized for the “grievous crime” of maintaining dignity and self-respect in Akpabio’s presence.
The letter read: “Dear Distinguished Senate President Godswill Akpabio, It is with the deepest sarcasm and utmost theatrical regret that I tender this apology for the grievous crime of possessing dignity and self-respect in your most exalted presence.
“I have reflected extensively on my unforgivable failure to recognise that legislative success in certain quarters is apparently not earned through merit, but through the ancient art of compliance — of the very personal kind.
“How remiss of me not to understand that my refusal to indulge your… “requests” was not merely a personal choice, but a constitutional violation of the unwritten laws of certain men’s entitlement.
“Truly, I must apologize for prioritizing competence over capitulation, vision over vanity, and the people’s mandate over private dinners behind closed doors. “I now realize the catastrophic consequences of my actions: legislation delayed, tempers flared, and the tragic bruising of egos so large they require their own postcodes. ‘
“For this disruption to the natural order of “quid pro quo,” I bow my head in fictional shame. “Please find it in your magnanimous heart — somewhere buried deep beneath layers of entitlement — to forgive this stubborn woman who mistakenly believed that her seat in the Senate was earned through elections, not erections.
“I remain Yours in eternal resistance, Senator Natasha H Akpoti Uduaghan Unafraid, Unbought, and Unbroken.”
The rocky relationship between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio first became public in July 2024 when, during a Senate session, Akpabio told her, “We are not in a nightclub” — a comment widely condemned as sexist.
Though Akpabio later claimed no harm was intended, tensions escalated when Akpoti-Uduaghan accused him of sexual harassment in February 2025, citing inappropriate advances.
Her petition was dismissed on procedural grounds.
In a move many interpreted as retaliatory, the Senate suspended Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months over unrelated allegations.
Her suspension sparked national outrage and protests under the rallying cry, “We are all Natasha,” with women’s rights groups decrying the Senate’s actions as emblematic of systemic gender discrimination in Nigerian politics.
While some political groups urged Akpoti-Uduaghan to apologize and move on, many Nigerians celebrated her fierce resistance, hailing her as a symbol of courage against entrenched power structures.
Akpabio, meanwhile, has dismissed all allegations as “baseless” and “malicious,” and has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate and prosecute Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of character assassination and even alleging an assassination plot.
As the drama deepens, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s fiery letter appears to have further cemented her status as one of the most fearless and outspoken voices in Nigerian politics.
