  • The bride refused to spend the night at the host pastor’s house, a church procedure required for a member to marry.

An Assemblies of God Church at Okpu 2, Aba, Abia State, has reportedly called off a couple’s wedding after the bride declined to spend the night at the pastor’s residence, a requirement set by the church.

According to reports, the church mandates that brides stay at the host pastor’s home on the eve of their wedding for counseling sessions conducted by the officiating pastor’s wife.

Another church policy also requires brides to undergo a pregnancy test before the wedding ceremony.

Promise Uzoma Okoro, an elder of the church, confirmed the development, stating that the bride’s refusal to comply with the overnight stay requirement prompted the church authorities to cancel the marriage at the last minute.

Okoro further revealed that guests had already gathered for the wedding before the announcement of the cancellation was made.

In other news, Popular influencer Peller has publicly criticized the organizers of the 2025 Headies Awards after they allegedly pulled out of an agreement for him to livestream the ceremony.

During a recent livestream, a visibly upset Peller shared his frustration, revealing that he had heavily promoted his involvement with the event, only to be sidelined at the last minute.

“I pushed the event everywhere, and now people are mocking me, saying I’m not good enough for the Headies,” he lamented.

According to him, he had been invited to cover the event live, but the organizers suddenly changed the terms on the day of the awards.

“I prepared extensively for this. They ghosted me and started imposing new conditions at the last minute. I wasn’t even doing it for profit—just to support the culture and have fun,” Peller explained.

He also expressed disappointment over missing the opportunity to meet celebrities and clarified that he had no intention of monetizing the livestream.

“This was about helping others achieve their dreams, not about money,” he added.

Concluding his outburst, Peller vowed to seek compensation for the money he spent preparing for the event, boldly declaring, “Headies must pay for this!”
