Defence, Power Ministers Still in Office – Presidency

The Presidency has dismissed reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sacked the Ministers of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar and Mohammed Bello Matawalle, as well as the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu.

Some media platforms on Monday claimed that the three ministers were removed over alleged underperformance.

In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the claims were false.

“These reports are entirely fake. Security agencies must act quickly against fake news websites and individuals who spread unverified information,” Onanuga stated.

“Freedom of speech doesn’t give anyone the right to spread lies. Fake news is a threat to our democracy and should be treated as a crime,” he added.
